Straight styli are the simplest and most commonly used type of stylus. They are suitable for inspecting simple features with which direct contact can be made. "Single-stepped" or multiple-stepped stems can be chosen depending on the task. All the probes in this category, except for pointed ones (type K), have a ball as a probing element. All standard materials for the components and their properties can be found in our material overview. The stylus pointer (type K) has a hardened stainless tip or a tip made of tungsten carbide with different conicity as probing geometry.
Adapters and holders belong to the 'Connecting Elements' category and allow different stylus shapes and types to be combined. For instance, star styli can be easily assembled using these components. They are an absolute "all-rounder" when it comes to "support" for complex stylus configurations, whether an angled stylus requires a specific rotational orientation or a rigid 90° stylus orientation.
