Spherical discs are generally used alone or in combination with a clamping probe or a clamping screw. These discs are usually used when large probe diameters are required to measure diameters in undercuts.
Type NA spherical disc stylus with a through stem offers greater rigidity than a "normal" spherical disc stylus. Otherwise, the two types function and are applied in the same way.
Type OA spherical disc stylus offers the convenience of a straight spherical disc as a probe element. Regarding function, spherical disc styli are identical to spherical discs, but they provide better and more stable connections due to the fixed mounting. They also have a more comprehensive feasibility range regarding disc thickness.
